James E. Hurley, Jr. PLLC
James E. Hurley, JR. (“Jim”) was appointed litigation counsel to the office of the United State Trustee, Department of Justice in the Southern District of New York (the “Trustee”). Jim represented the Trustee in such notable cases as Johns-Marville and Lionel Trains Corp., presided over Sec. 341(a) meetings of creditors, prosecuted violation of bankruptcy Code and related motion practice.
After leaving the justice Department, Jim became an associate at Sherman, Citron and Karasik, a boutique bankruptcy law firm in New York City. There Jim specialized in representing consumer and corporate debtors and Chapter 7 Trustees. Jim later became a partner at Rattel Liebman, in New York City, specializing in representing corporate debtors, commercial transactions and real estate based Chapter 11 reorganization cases. Jim has been in private practice now for several years, the principal of the Law office of James E. Hurley, JR.PLLC, a Manhattan based law firm specializing in representing debtors in Chapter 7, 13 and 11 bankruptcy cases, and as a debt relief agency. The firm has represented notable entertainers such as Robby Blue Bland and Jennifer Holiday. Jim also recently represented Beulah Church of God in Christ Jesus, Inc. ($14.6MM real estate liquidation), Little Mt. Zion Church ($1.6MM real estate sale) and is currently representing a principal litigant in Maywood Capital Case ($500M real estate liquidation case).
